Spending time on my friend’s boat in the tiny village of Rock Hall, Maryland, gently bopping and sliding around on a composite of nature’s elements, sounds, and smells, presses on the meaning, purpose, and value of human existence.
Cause Over Consequence
I have always cared about the bigger picture, the essence of truth in life. A care not always respected or shared by a society that tends to reward me-too people who fit into its mold and obey the rules. Until society is left with no choice but to accept the truth nature bestows on it. Nature determines the gameplay to which humanity must abide.
Nature completely invalidates the solipsism by which humans claim to either master or save “our” planet.
Climate change, for example, is caused by various amplitudes of the decline of available energy, called entropy, affecting the planet’s atmosphere. Arguably some of those amplitudes are becoming enlarged by the reckless soiling of the earth, a sin considering our kinship with and dependence on other occupants. Our only recourse to entropy is to adapt.
Truth Awaiting
Nature is dictatorial, which begs why humanity’s modus operandi is elective. The laissez-faire freedom we grant ourselves shoots us in the foot, machine-gun style, producing compounding multigenerational wounds from yesterday’s flawed solutions. Nature does not give us any rights; it only allows us to play its game for as long as we collectively and individually abide by its first-principles.
Nature reveals infinitely expanding normalizations of truth from which the curious can derive proven first-principles to improve human adaptability continually. Discoveries like Einstein’s theory of relativity are yet to be implemented to add a whole new dimension to how we manage ourselves, fundamentally changing the perception of nature’s truth we are supposed to trace.
Dare To Be Different
Nature rewards the meaningful value of our differences, not our commonalities. Hence we must build hierarchical systems of evolutionary merit, stop listening and stop giving representation to people who know nothing about how nature works. It is high time we reinvent the systems that hold the renewable efficacy of humanity hostage.
The meaning, purpose, and value of human existence are to prove our unevenly distributed proximal development improves our collective adaptability to nature’s entropy to live as long as humanly possible.
