The quotation “all men are created equal” is part of the U.S. Declaration of Independence, which Thomas Jefferson penned in 1776 during the beginning of the American Revolution. The phrase was present in Jefferson’s original draft of the declaration. It was thereafter quoted and incorporated into speeches by a wide array of substantial figures in American political and social life in the United States. The final form of the phrase was stylized by Benjamin Franklin. It has been called an “immortal declaration”, and “perhaps [the] single phrase” of the American Revolutionary period with the greatest “continuing importance.”
Be Different
After some 239 years, first, through Darwin in the mid-1800s, we have discovered men (referring to the human species) are not equal at all. We all look and behave slightly but importantly different by the small part of our DNA’s unique sequencing. Similarly, like Saturn and Neptune, most planets are made of the same basic materials, and the slight difference in composition makes them and their atmospheres look and behave fundamentally different. Moreover, if all men would indeed be created equal, no evolution would occur, for everything would revolve around the degrading value of commonalities.
The false presumption of equality creates the inference people should be treated equally. They shouldn’t.
By DNA composition, none of us are equal. Nature, not humanity, defines how we (and all species) evolve and how we will be judged to live a life of longevity. In modern-day situations, that means two people applying for the same job should not be treated equally, despite their seemingly equal qualifications as those qualifications are manmade manacles of conformity, with no relevance to nature’s differential composition. Their natural capacities are different, and it shows when you talk with them. Equal pay is, therefore, utter nonsense.
Embrace Differences
Inequality should not be used as an excuse to preemptively segment the haves and the have-nots without an evaluation of individual capacity and fit. Meaning, everyone should have the same opportunity to participate, yet the exposure of their individual merit dictates a unique match with the opportunity and requirements at hand. Put differently, (seeming) equality of input does not yield equality of output.
The point is, equality does not exist under the rule of nature. So, why are we, humans, creating systems to manage ourselves that purport equality? The quest for manmade equality is incompatible with nature’s evolutionary principles relying on inequality’s foundational precepts.
Get Real
Why are we surprised that humanity’s performance does not align with the requirements nature has, without our approval or recognition, already bestowed upon us? Stop mothering the planet, and stop believing we can save it when we fail to comply with nature’s principles that determine everything’s longevity and excellence.
End the cheap false-positive of equality, for none exists, thankfully. Or we humans would not have been here in the first place.
