This chart from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) stamped with the timeframes of successive climate conferences and accords demonstrates how over a period of sixty years no agreement among nation states has yielded a meaningful response to climate change. A subject I harped on quite a few times before.
CO2 levels measured in Manau Loa, Hawaii, keep rising at an unrelenting pace.

Some, like clothing company Patagonia, now appeal to the public to do the right thing. Good luck with that. Activism, despite great karma, is the sigh of the hopeless, turning our care for nature elective.
Obey Or Perish
Nature is authoritarian and does not give a rats ass about humanity’s attempt and progress to save us from ourselves. And the authoritarian rule of nature cannot be supported by the elective participation of humanity. The point is, our environment will survive, in some form or another. Humanity, unchanged, will not.
The government must lead the charge to protect the collective interest of humanity. That is their job. The government must correlate its principles to nature’s principles, compose a theory, and then embed the theory into a system by which people, the participants of the marketplace, operate.
Like so:

Today, the self-proclaimed most advanced country in the world does not have a theory that abides by nature’s first principles, has no systems that embeds the theory, and therefore does not produce marketplaces in which its people work to improve human adaptability to nature’s entropy.
We must begin to abide by nature’s principles if we want to keep benefitting from taking nature for a ride.
Simple solution
Using the first-principles of nature derived from the greats of science, we can easily establish and rate how every company obeys those principles and be taxed accordingly.
We do that by measuring how those companies improve human adaptability to nature’s entropy.
Using those principles, we can also establish the criteria investment firms are beholden to, and thus immediately promote new endeavors strengthening human adaptability to the irreversible decline of available energy on our planet.
Rebel With A Cause
The Paris Accord along with many before them will never work, the way they are set up. For those accords attempt to infer causation from correlation. Causation hinging on the false premise of sustainability, incompatible with nature’s first-principles.
Yes, we should lower the human footprint to slow down the anthropogenic cascade ultimately resulting from it. For the same reason, I would not suggest living in a room where you keep all your trash. We are bound to poison ourselves.
However, we must not forget how climate change is merely one of the consequences of nature’s irreversible entropy.
Hence, instead of arguing over the decline of measurable climate change parameters, we must first and foremost build operating-systems for humanity (we built) that address the cause of humanity’s growing incompatibility with nature, and then the undesirable consequences of today will magically evaporate.
Humanity must change course and attach to a higher normalization of nature’s truth. All else is a waste of time.
