This lovely quote showed up on Facebook, reminding me of another prescient post I wrote many years ago about The positivity that kills us—followed by a rebuke of many other high-flying progenitors of misplaced positivity. We are killing ourselves with the ignorance of reality, sold as positivity.
My answer, steeped in reality and by order of importance, is as follows:
- We have not built operating-systems for humanity equipped to improve human adaptability to nature’s entropy, with merely one of the forms of entropy being COVID-19. Expect more disaster to follow if we do not change the theory under which humanity operates.
- We are blissfully unaware, and in certain circles proud to ignore, freedom can only exist with the boundaries of paradoxical rules that secure the trust in collective freedom from being eroded by the vile-maxims of personal liberty.
- As the second most obese country in the world, we are chronically addicted to prescription drugs to deal with the apathy to the individual responsibility of our wellness, causing a weakened immune system in 70% of Americans.
In the meantime, please, practice the recommendations issued by the CDC. It is a small price, even if you disagree with them. A small price only when behind the scenes, we build a better and more systematic defense against the many curve-balls of entropy nature is bound to continue to throw our way.
