Gov. Gavin Newsom’s new state budget will call for California to produce its own brand of generic prescription drugs to drive down healthcare costs, according to the LA Times.

Gavin’s reaction makes a lot of sense, given the realities presented to him and some startling facts we received. A colonoscopy in Europe costs roughly $800, while the same exact procedure with the same equipment in the US costs north of $3,000, according to a source familiar with the disparity.
Our health care systems neither provide health nor care, as witnessed by a three-year decline in American average age and exorbitant costs to those dependent on healthcare to make it through another day, 70% of us. Our system of health care fails us, in the same way, and for the same reasons, many other manmade systems fail to encompass and promote the excellence of humanity.
The real problem is, of course, that the free-market systems we preach to the world about as the best thing since sliced bread do not work as advertised. As I have explained ad nauseam, a free-market must subjugate to a proper definition of freedom, instilling a trust provided by the adherence to paradoxical rules that prevents a vile-maxim of individual interest from harming the collective interests in the marketplace. Without the freedom of freedom and the trust of universal transparency, a free-market is neither free nor regenerative.
Proactive
We have no free-markets in America, for we have failed to establish the criterion that makes marketplaces evolve freely.
And thus, Gavin’s proposal to produce its own prescription drugs, similar to other admissions from government officials, is the very admission our free-markets have failed. I understand Gavin’s efforts to protect the people of California and take a shortcut, but the real and pressing issue remains: when will we ever address the root causal problems facing humanity?
When will we learn that the symptoms of our flawed constructs – across the board – find their cause in the principles we have failed to adhere to and establish. How many Greta’s do we need to put on stage to realize it is not the symptoms we need to worry about but the systems? An ounce of change in the systems we build that will lead to much more than a pound of cure.
We can and must change the first-principles of all manmade systems, so those systems can begin to harbor, guide, deliver, expand, regenerate, and maximize the excellence of humanity. Like so.
