When you evaluate the systems that determine what humanity can discover (in the words of Albert Einstein), you quickly realize how a democracy, using a method of tallying the wants of voters, is a dumb approach, in dire need of replacement.
Here is why.
Evolution
First and foremost, the evolution of mankind is predicated on a meritocracy in which the strengthening of human renewal ensures the prolonging of the human species. Evolution does not tally or care about our wants to dictate what humanity needs. The process of human evolution is guided by nature’s principles we do our darnedest to ignore. We are left with a democracy incompatible with evolution.
Predictability
Democracy is not a system, for a system embeds a theorem that produces the desired outcome from input qualification. I visited the U.S. Congress, and none of the legislators I spoke with could communicate the desired outcome of the theorem of democracy. The rambling diversions reminded me of startup entrepreneurs who have yet to figure out their business model. Without a theorem, there cannot be a reliable expectation of outcome.
Wants
What humanity wants is not what humanity needs. A Kardashian lifestyle of the rich and famous many in the western world and beyond aspire to do nothing to strengthen the renewal of humanity. It merely produces excessive dependency on consumerism with cunning rewards for selling snake oil to ourselves. The winners ending up as the wealthiest people in the cemetery, their children negatively impacted by hereditary nothingness. Nothing in that process enhances human adaptability for generations to come.
Equality
Even though the human species is 99.9% the same in terms of DNA composition, the unique sequencing of a tiny fraction of our DNA is what makes us look, act, and feel different. Our democracy focuses on the collusion of our commonalities, teaches us the same tricks, and ignores the value of our inherent differences so crucial to the expanding fractal of human ingenuity and capacity.
Evolve
Our democratic scripture, as in the U.S. Constitution, we consider as holy as the Bible, with rights – and saliently short on obligations – you must vouch to uphold when becoming a citizen, evolves in downstream subservience to outdated legislation only. No static manmade fundamentals evolving downstream only can continue to meet the upstream discoveries derived from nature. Both Feynman and Einstein proving so succinctly that hindsight is a terrible prognosticator of foresight from reason that breaks the norm.
Dimension
Our democracy is sold as a totalitarian monism of human excellence to the rest of the world, all while anything in nature, including humanity, revolves around a dynamic theory of relativity. Hence, our democracy is a few dimensions short of tracing and projecting human ingenuity and capacity. A round world still held hostage by proverbial flat-world governance.
Romanic
The emperors of the Roman Empire gave their people bread and circuses as an appeasement to keep them entertained and in line. And the false hypothesis of democracy serves that purpose still today. But the human species can only survive for so long adorning a democracy proclaiming to be the best operating-system for humanity.
We need real leaders, not puppeteers masquerading as such, who recognize a democracy is merely a facade, a Trojan horse, to get elected. And then, as Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore did, perhaps unbeknownst to all of its constituents, use intelligence to coax a democracy into an evolutionary meritocracy, one system at a time.
We can build a much more robust meritocracy now because we know more about the principles of evolution than when China copied Singapore’s model some forty years ago. Let alone the evolution of a meritocracy being predicated on freedom, the kind of freedom, not every sovereignty is willing or able to endure.
It is high time we outsmart ourselves.
