What Is Your Opinion About Jeremy Rifkin’s 3rd Industrial Revolution?

The old repackaged as new will not remove the causal incompatibility between the operating system of nature and the manmade systems on display here. The US must lead with a better plan.

I can only judge from a single one-hour and 44 minutes presentation I watched hosted by Vice recently. My summary judgment from that video is that Jeremy’s stance and beliefs are in alignment with what humanity wants and thus “sell” quite well to elected world leaders, not what humanity needs, signaled by an impending dissent of change by the promoters of our current systems. Selling more technology and sharing economies to millennials is an easy shot on goal, or more aptly, feeding the dogs the dog food. Without a fundamental change to the core principles of humanity, this plan, I am sorry to say, equates to slapping lipstick on a pig. A plan the Europeans appear to buy into.

The real and imminent threat humanity faces is not related to our purported role of saving the world (the world will survive another 3.5 billion years without us) or producing more stuff more efficiently but is related to how we manage to take ourselves on in a dynamic equilibrium with nature. You see, the world was not created with us in mind (Christopher Hitchens), and our self-appointed role as our planet’s shepherd is an idiotic and ignorant viewpoint responsible for the birth of many manmade manacles of make-believe.

Instead, humanity must begin to subjugate to the rule of nature, no matter our advances, to establish an optimal and dynamic equilibrium with nature to prolong the existence of human life on earth. The continuity of growth, for example, is not at all in line with nature’s rule, predicated instead on the strength of renewal. I refer you to a host of other conflicts we have impregnated in the operating systems of humanity highlighted in the enclosed chart, disputes under Jeremy’s plan unrecognized, unaddressed, and uncontested.

As long as humanity believes it can outsmart and ignore the rules of nature with more of the same the more swiftly humanity will meet the sickle of nature’s final judgment.

I agree with Jeremy on some of his observations of why we have failed, the attachment to voodoo religions of economics, however not lessened in severity by an attachment to, and dependence on a retaliatory totalitarian technology run amok. Both are equally destructive to humanity.

The improvement of human excellence will come from how we take ourselves on to save us from ourselves. And for that, we need the rules of our evolutionary gameplan to be instilled in a new operating system for humanity that subjugates to nature, not takes it for a selfish ride, no matter what advances humanity plans to make.

We do not need a 3rd industrial revolution; we need a 1st renewable evolution.

The sign of an intelligent nation is its willingness and ability to reinvent itself, upstream. Let’s inspire the world with new rigors of excellence we first and successfully apply to ourselves.
