There is only going to be one Tesla.
Tesla is the company that reset the stale reliance on fossil fuels, with an electric vehicle for the first time, not as a dumbed-down and ugly version of fossil fuel vehicles.
Tesla invented better-performing vehicles yielding the early adoption and “mass” production of fast and good looking electric vehicles, spawned the creation of self-driving vehicles, and then some, while “giving” its patents away to proliferate an industry transition towards electric-only cars. So, will there be another one like Tesla? No. Not with the same composition of timing, capability, character, and impact.
Tesla delivered upstream innovation that shook the apathy of the auto industry loose, from which downstream evolutionary innovation is now being developed by the incumbents, sold as revolutionary to the public.
Can there be another upstream revolution in cars? Absolutely.
All normalizations of truth, as we know them today, can be elevated to better and higher normalizations, subsequently yielding a plethora of new downstream evolutions. For our understanding of nature, and our dependencies on it is a mere relativity theory – waiting to be rediscovered.
One innovation I cannot wait for is the car charging itself, sitting in the sunshine. So we can tear down those dumb charging stations on the open road.
