Au contraire, is my rebuttal to this self-serving article by The Daily Texan, the teachings of economics dumbs students down to a stubborn religion of make-believe, proven fallible at every turn:
Economics is a voodoo science because it systematically confounds consequence and cause, and thus yields preprogrammed depravity of reason. We can and must do better to guide humanity in a new direction, away from the hollow and unsubstantiated promises of economics. Watch my The State of Humanity presentation and in less than 10 minutes you will begin to understand how economics does not provide the proper normalization of and for humanity, by a long shot.
