Depravity of reason makes a mockery out of predictability. For one principal reason.
Numbers, as indicators of economic performance, are like the score of a game of soccer, a consequence rather than an indication of gameplay, the cause. And since our stale religion of economics revels in the confounding of such consequence and cause, the resulting depravity of reason yields extremely inaccurate predictability.
Just like a score of say 2–1 in soccer says nothing about the game played, nor does an identical score in another game suggest similar gameplay. Such confounding of consequence and cause lies at the heart of much manmade foolery, not just in economics; I hasten to add.
