No. The world will survive without us for another 3.5 billion years. So worry less about the world than about humanity.
We, humans, need a better operating-system for humanity in which the proxy and relativity of freedoms closely resemble those rights granted to us by evolution. Today, we deploy systems of absolutism in vehement misalignment and denial of freedom to each his own, which restricts and damages the strength of our renewability, and therefore reduces our sustainability as a species.
The problem with socialism and capitalism the way we deploy them today is that they are both in denial of the relativity of freedom, and thus wreak havoc amongst its participants in different ways, yet equally erosive.
We must redesign our systems to subjugate to a new definition and implementation of freedom. An implementation that respects, embellishes, and rewards our meaningful differences, over the stifling regurgitation of our compliant commonalities. We can do so without requiring the “earth to be scorched,” but by simply infusing every system we built and built with more modern principles of aforementioned freedom.
We shall not expect any theory of absolutism to accurately trace and support the relativity innate to humanity. Or we, as the only known animal with a unique propensity for foresight, will have failed to use our intellectual ingenuity to benefit ourselves.
