What Are Some Of The Drawbacks Of The Melting Pot Model?

Borders will continue to disappear, and people will gravitate toward societies that treat them the way they want to be treated.

The “soup” produced by the melting pot must keep the individual ingredients of its makeup discernible, and not turn into a homogenous mash by which all people act and behave the same. The value of our differences being way more important than the value of our commonalities, in improving human ingenuity and capacity at the ever-expanding fringe of evolution.

What that requires is a meritocracy based on a relativity of freedom (to each his own), protected by the guardrails of collective freedom (to kill off any attempted totalitarian encroachment), and to renew and respect the diversity crucial to humanity continually — quite a different model than we deploy today.

At some point, we must come to realize that none of us own a country, and no state owns us. We are all citizens of this world. Borders will continue to disappear, and the evolution of people will marry the development of societies that treat them the way they want to be treated.

But be prepared for us and others to fight some wars over the letting go of our totalitarian aspirations in the meantime as the aspirations of religions and countries have attempted for thousands of years. The hope is we someday come to our senses, deploy a relativity theory of freedom we so desperately need, and reverse course before the clash of monisms leads to an irreversible anthropogenic cascade.

The sign of an intelligent nation is its willingness and ability to reinvent itself, upstream. Let’s inspire the world with new rigors of excellence we first and successfully apply to ourselves.
