Socialism is a symptom – not a system – and appears in any social construct where the collusion of thought leads to controlled behavior and expectations of its participants. Therefore socialism is omnipresent in any social construct in violation of freedom, the freedom of freedom that would otherwise erode or significantly diminish the need for socialism.
Centrally planned begs the question. Planned by who? The government often deploys socialism as a way to define and control collective freedom, or as a way to protect those who fell through the many cracks of capitalism. Capitalism uses socialism to deploy oligarchic control derived from laissez-faire governance over its pursuit of individual (and selfish) freedoms. The arbitrage of capitalism is chock-full of socialism, of the opaque kind.
Socialism embedded in our American implementation of capitalism is merely private-sector controlled socialism, equally harmful as public-sector controlled socialism we see more prevalent in Europe. Harmful, because any form of socialism restricts finding outliers responsible for reinventing our world anew, and thus is a ball-and-chain to evolution.
The problem we have is that none of our systems obey the most rudimentary principles of freedom, a reason why those systems don’t work, and we must question them rightfully at every turn. But rather than attempt to optimize their consequences, we must fix their causal fallacies.
We must subjugate our systems not to a totalitarian model of freedom fit for the few, but to a relativity of freedom that maximizes all of human capacity and ingenuity.
